Just eat it!!

Well, as many as you may know, Beau is not the best eater. He has his select favorite foods, cheetos, fruit loops, yogurt, mac-n-cheese, doritos and whole milk. These are always in stock in the Sargent house. But here are a couple pictures to show some foods that we have been trying. Spagetti, which he liked and corn on the cob, which he had to warm up to. After butter and salt of course. We have discovered that Beau really likes strong tasting and crunchy foods. After talking with other preemie moms, it seems to be the norm for these little guys. We also think that he still has some oral adversion from being on the ventilator. We are still working with our speech therapist and trying to sound out words for Beau to try. You never realize how important communication is until your baby can't do it. We are also still working on signing, which is a work in progress. He knows more, and stop really well. I don't know, everyone else tells me not to teach him to talk because he'll use it against me when he is a teenager!!

Father's Day Weekend

We had a nice weekend and did something different. We went camping, something daddy has been asking to do for a while. We packed up the truck, alot of stuff for three people and only two days, but it's always better to be prepared. This was Beau's first camping trip and all in all, he did pretty well. We went to a site just outside of Williamsburg, we had been there before. Tom made a nice little play spot for Beau so he wouldn't get too dirty. It was pretty hot, so we spent alot of time at the pool. I know, a pool isn't really camping, but it was mommy's only request! We ate hotdogs, icecream and smores, and loved being outside! Next camping trip, maybe Beau and daddy can do some more fishing.

Walk like a man..or at least a boy!!

Not much going on around here, we had a nice weekend with some birthday parties to go to and rest to catch up on. Beau is enjoying his birthday presents and mommy and daddy are thinking of investing in earplugs!
Beau seems to be taking the "terrible twos" with stride. Although he has his moments, he is such a sweet boy. He seems to be picking new things up quickly. He discovered that under the couch is a good hiding place for toys. And then gets angry when he can't reach the things he has put under there. We are all working on walking with him. He likes to hold our hands and help him walk, I think he enjoys the new view! We are working with his physical therapist once a week during the summer to see if we can jumpstart his walking, and hopefully by the end of the year he'll be on his own.
We also celebrated Dylan's second birthday!! It's still hard to beleive that Beau is actually older by one week when you put them side by side. But, Beau will catch up!! They are good friends and love playing with one another. Dylan always likes to give Beau a huge hug and kiss! It is so nice to be so close to family, and I am glad the cousins will grow up together.

Beau's Second Birthday!

Well, today is the day. Two years ago, our lives changed in ways we couldn't even imagine. Beau has surprised us all and we are so greatful to have him as a part of our family. He brings us so much joy and laughter everyday. Tom and I love sharing all the new experiences we each have with him, swapping stories about the funny or new things Beau has done that day. We also celebrate our Sydney's birthday today too. We miss her and think about her everyday.
Tom has been lucky enough to be able to stay home with Beau this week. Mamo is on vacation and mommy still has to work. But, Beau and daddy are having fun together. Playing with monster trucks and listening to music, Beau loves music!! We might have a musician in the family!!
We had a birthday party this past weekend, lots of food, fun and kids. We had a big waterslide for the bigger kids and a pool for the little ones. Beau really enjoyed his cake this year and loved having so many kids around to play with. We are so greatful to be surrounded by such great friends and family. Beau got a ride-on Tow-Mater, from Cars, and Dylan loved it so much and had a hard time letting go. We actually had to shake him off of it!

Little late

Well, although Memorial Day has come and gone, I thought I would post some of our events anyway. We had a GREAT weekend. Our friends, the Kendricks, came up from Norfolk with their son Dylan. We spent Saturday at Luray Caverns up near Skyline drive. It was great. We got there right before the crowd. But boy have things changed up there since my 4th grade field trip! I never knew how popular they were or just how many people a cavern can hold!! But we all enjoyed the sights and wonder of such a neat place. On the way home, we stopped for icecream and to shop at the vendors along the road. I found a great white rocking chair for the front porch, which I have been waiting patiently for. But we got a good deal on it. On Sunday we went fishing at a riverbank which runs along the backside of our neighborhood. Tom was the only successful fisherman, but Dylan got the prize of the day, a baby painted turtle. Beau had a nice nap in mommy's lap. Afterwards, we went to the neighborhood pool, which some regretted after we felt the water!! Burr, cold. We wished the weekend could last longer, but our friends had to leave and we had to get back to reality.

rain, rain go away

The Sargent Family is ready for summer, even if the weather is not!! It has been raining here for about three days. While we love the rain, we are ready for some sunshine. We had a great past weekend. Friday night we met up with some friends of ours, the Cashins, they have three adorable boys, and went to an outdoor concert. We met up and had some pizza, yummy! (which Beau also enjoyed, one of the foods he likes) Then we went over to the concert to see the Wailers, as in Bob Marley and the Wailers, minus Bob. It was perfect. What a great night to be out and enjoy the warm weather and listen to music. All the boys enjoyed themselves and even got a little dirty. Beau was dancing and clapping his hands. He really liked the live band and didn't seem to mind how loud it was. Mommy loved the music, one of her favoriate bands. Just wished it could have lasted longer.
We are gearing up for Nikki's big weekend. Mamo(grandma) (aka seamstress extrodinare) tailored Beau's pants and bow tie. Can't wait to post that picture!! Just waiting for the big day!! Beau will be a ring bearer, but he won't really be holding it because it would probably just throw it anyway. We are hoping he will just stay in the wagon. We'll see!! Wish us luck.
